First Version
New summons can roll into any of the 6 initial archetypes - Male Citizen, Female Citizen, Canine, Feline, Griffin, and Wyvern, with the chance of a specific archetype rolling dependent on its Rarity Index. The lower the Rarity Index value, the less likely it is to be rolled.
Male Citizen
600
Female Citizen
600
Feline (Cat)
1400
Canine (Dog)
1400
Griffin
200
Wyvern
100
Each Companion starts off as unnamed (the default name is the Archetype name - e.g. "Wyvern").
Companions can be named by their owner, with name changes becoming more and more expensive each time. Companion backstories will also be able to be set or generated as metadata by players.
This personality matrix defines behavioral quirks for each Companion, impacting how they interact with the world and the player. e.g.
Reserved [0] <> Sociable [100] - frequency of dialog popups or commentary during idle time or events. determines interaction with other players' pets (e.g., growls, antisocial disappears in crowded areas). sociable may interact with other players or pets.
Follower [0] <> Rebellious [100] - affects certain dynamic follow behaviors (e.g., restlessness, chance to suddenly abandon - cannot be summoned for a period, frequency of idle animation playing, etc.)
Patient [0] <> Active [100] - impacts how closely the pet follows the player and its position (e.g., "Active" stays closer; "Patient" lags behind). also affects exact follow position - e.g. directly behind (hiding), behind to the right / left
Each number represents how close on the scale the personality trait is to one extreme or the other, from 0 to 100. E.g. a value of 20 for "Reserved <> Sociable" indicates a Reserved-leaning personality, whereas a higher value closer to 100 would indicate a Sociable personality.
Certain personality scale values can also lead to unique options with Companion dialogs, with Companion interactivity that will be extended in v2.
Catchphrases are expressions (e.g. "pika!!") that the Companion will utter in certain game situations and also on interaction by other players. These are are procedurally generated from a bank of possible phrases grouped by rarity.

"Heritage Index" is an approximate rarity score, from 0.0 to 100.0. This index has a log normal distribution where most values settle around 50, with very low chances of hitting higher numbers (5% chance above 75, 0.5% chance above 95, etc.).
Certain cosmetic skins or visual enhancements require (or are enhanced) with this Heritage Index value (e.g. 95+ index to use a legendary companion skin). Certain exclusive locations may also require a pet above certain indexes as well on entry.
