Cambria Companions πΆ
Companions are intelligent and adaptive followers with unique in-game convenience utility. Companions are NFTs that can be traded. Companions start off with 6 main archetypes (Human / Citizen, Feline, Avian, Griffin, Wyvern) with more to be released. Each Companion Archetype has a Rarity Index, which determines the likelihood of certain archetypes being summoned.
Companions (self and others) can be hidden via display settings in game, and do not have to follow the player for their benefits to be active (you can leave your pets on your Island).
Companion Utility
Companions provide a variety of ingame convenience utility ("perks"). These perks are designed to not significantly impact game balance or competitive economics. Current concepts being tested include:
Common Perks
Expanded Bank Space
Bank Tabs
Presets / Loadouts Usage
Faster Focus Point Regen
Archetype-limited Perks
Auto Loot Collection (certain limitations apply)
Threat Detection & Alerting
Preconfigured Action sequences with Keybinds
Auto-Bank (when near bank)
Auto-Craft / Refine (when near building)
Auto-Repair (when near building)
Pathfinding Assistance (Long Distance)
Birds-eye View / Scouting
Auto-Sell (when near shop)
Off-screen Tracking Indicators
For Archetype-limited Perks, the player only needs to own the associated Companion to unlock the perks. Companion follow selection is purely cosmetic.
Once Lands are released, Companions may have additional related utility with Lands. Companions do not have utility in Duel Arena. Companions persist between seasons and across various Cambria game modes.
Companion Summoning πͺ
The only way that new Companions can be created is Companion Summoning. Cores holder can spend their Shards to summon a random Companion which is then directly minted to the Companions NFT collection. They can then trade that Companion on the secondary market with other players. Companions are viewable both in game, as well as on the playerβs profile on Cambria web / mobile app. All future ecosystem extensions will also offer integrations into Companions.
Companion summoning costs (in Shards) utilize realtime Dynamic Pricing with Variable Rate Gradual Dutch Auctions (VRGDAs) to issue new companions at a price that starts high and decreases over time in an attempt to roughly match the growth of the game itself. In other words, Companion Shard costs gradually decrease over time allowing players to mint more Companions from the same amount of Cores, as more relative demand for companions from new players necessitates higher productivity from Cores. VGRDA configuration and target rates will be revealed closer to launch.
Summon Failure Rate
Every summon attempt has a chance to fail, consuming Shards without minting a Companion. The higher your Shard balance, the less chance of the summon attempt failing. This reduction in failure rate has diminishing returns in relation to your current Shard balance, capping the max benefit of hoarding a high amount of Shards.
Summon Cooldown
Summoning is performed in batches, from 1 to X attempts per batch. After each batch, a 24 hour cooldown will be applied to the wallet, during which they cannot perform more Summon attempts. All summoning batches are initiated on chain and include the full details of each batch.
